Shrapnel

As I lie here lightly crumbled in the moon, I must laugh gently. I used to be so stiff, thinking of tonight, all mechanical arms and lead-lined containers. I guess I thought I could dump it in some out-of-the-way spot and forget it. But now I find no need — I hold my metal in me like a child and know its warmth like a mother, from the inside.
